14+ Fun Daycare Summer Bulletin Board Ideas

Getting your daycare walls ready for the new season doesn't have to eat up your entire weekend. I put together some simple, hands-on craft displays that will brighten up your space and keep the kids involved.
1. Personalized Paper Suns

Bright yellow paper suns instantly grab attention when parents walk through the door. You can staple up a paper plate suncraft for each child with their name written boldly on the rays.
Why it works: It gives every kid a sense of belonging while keeping the materials incredibly cheap.
2. Under the Sea Scene

Three yards of blue scalloped border is all it takes to create a fun ocean-themed base. You can pin up little handprint crabs and paper fish to fill the underwater scene.
3. Melted Ice Pops

A giant melted ice pop design creates a playful and messy look that screams summer break. Cut out large cardboard shapes, paint them in neon pinks and greens, and attach wooden craft sticks at the bottom. The kids can help by adding torn paper sprinkles to the wet paint.
Just make sure you use heavy-duty staples to keep the cardboard from sagging.
4. Cozy Campfire Corner

I always love setting up a camping theme in July.
Build a 3D campfire using crumpled tissue paper in reds and oranges at the bottom of the board. Add paper marshmallows on real twigs and surround them with dark green pine trees cut from construction paper.
Why it works: The 3D texture pops off the flat corkboard and makes the whole room feel cozier.
5. Watermelon Slices

Watermelon slices made from folded paper plates add instant color to a blank wall. You just paint the rims green, the centers pink, and let the toddlers use black finger paint for the watermelon seeds.
6. Tactile Beach Netting

Using real beach netting brings an amazing tactile element to the board.
Drape the net diagonally across a light blue paper backdrop and pin it securely in the corners. Tuck in construction paper seashells, starfish, and photos of the kids playing in the sandbox.
7. Hot Air Balloon Ride

A standard four-by-six foot board easily holds twenty paper hot air balloons.
Weave small paper baskets and attach them to colorful balloon cutouts using basic yarn. Let the kids draw themselves sitting inside the baskets before you pin them up against a fluffy cloud background.
8. Fresh Lemonade Stand

My favorite quick fix is a lemonade stand board because it requires almost zero prep. Pin up a yellow and white striped paper awning at the top and scatter paper lemons with the kids' names written on green leaves.
9. Backyard Bug Hunt

Focusing on a bug theme works perfectly because toddlers are already obsessed with insects.
Create a massive grassy hill using green butcher paper and hide different bugs all over it. The kids can craft their own insects to add to the swarm throughout the week.
- Coffee filter butterflies
- Fingerprint ladybugs
- Pipe cleaner caterpillars
10. Cool Summer Shades

Sunglasses made from black construction paper reflect a cool summer vibe. You can cut out large frames and let the kids glue colorful tissue paper squares into the lens areas. Hang these up on a bright orange background to make the colors really stand out. Add a bold paper banner across the top that says something simple about being ready for sunshine. It fills the space quickly without needing a ton of small details.
11. Jungle Canopy

Layering different shades of green paper creates a lush jungle canopy that feels highly immersive. You can hide paper monkeys and brightly colored parrots among the vines for the kids to spot during drop-off.
12. Footprint Flip-Flops

Paper flip-flops lined up in a row give off a relaxed pool day aesthetic. Trace each child's foot to make the sole and glue on colorful pipe cleaners for the straps.
13. Flying Kites

Use actual paper kites with long ribbon tails to fill up vertical board space. Let the children decorate the kite diamonds with markers and stickers before you attach the curling ribbon strings. Angle them slightly so they look like they are catching the wind.
Try to keep the tails out of reach if the board is low to the ground.
14. Ice Cream Parlor

Highlighting an ice cream parlor theme works well because it allows for endless color combinations. Cut out large brown paper cones and stack three or four different colored paper ice cream scoops on top of each one. Top them off with red pom-pom cherries.
You can even use shaving cream and glue to make puffy whipped cream.
15. Late Summer Forest

It takes about twenty minutes to twist brown kraft paper into thick tree branches. Pin these branches across a sky blue board and add green handprint leaves from every child in the class. Perch a few paper owls or squirrels on the branches to finish the forest look. This design transitions beautifully from late summer right into early fall.
