Looking closely at how these functional room elements are constructed reveals exactly where our hidden characters are hiding.

The hidden word revealed

The five hidden letters are E, T, O, L, and H, which anagram to spell the topic-appropriate word HOTEL. You can spot the E in the window blind negative space at the far left, the T in the brass drawer pull on the left nightstand, and the O in the glass sconce globe on the wall above the nightstand. The L appears in the pillow piping on the center bed surface, while the H is formed by the luggage rack stretcher at the lower right foot of the bed.

Finding the geometric O
